Keg convertion project
06/09/10 at 9:41am

I've run accross a supply of empty sankey kegs, 15.5 gal, half-barrel, whatever you like to call them. Now what I'm really looking for is an angle grinder to cut a proper hole and to then grind the keg to a mirror finish. I might end up just buying one this weekend, however I was curious if anyone else would want to pitch in or at least build a few of these with me in an afternoon. Might be a fun project and we'd all walk away with nice boil kettles for around $50 each. There are a lot of ways to do this project, but I'm looking to build up a professional style keggle with cite glass and therm. See below.

If by chance you have an angle grinder, I'd love to borrow or trade for beer, thanks.

Why is American beer served cold? So you can distinguish it

dicker and deal sometimes has them cheap, like $10-$20 cheap.
you can also get a sanding blade and polish the keg up.

I found a grinder, but the offer still stands. I'm taking most of next week off and I'm hoping to finish a few brew projects.

I also have a empty sanke keg that I have removed the snap ring and center tube and need to cut a hole in the top to make it into a brew kettle

I'm picking up some parts from Lowes after work, but probably won't tackle this thing until maybe tomorrow morning. The only holdup is the World Cup game at 2pm. I'm not sure what my day is going to look like yet. Email me sometime tonight or this weekend and we can try to find a good time to meet up. its joe.merriman@gmail.com

I've cut the hole and I'm pretty happy with my first try at this. Did some sanding and clean up. I still need to grind down the outside to make it look fancy. See the pics below. I'm keep the jig together if anyone wants to borrow or for future projects. Worked great, thanks to BoobyM
